By Emily McAuliffe

We’re pleased to announce that the Revd Dr Luke Hopkins will be joining Trinity College as our new Chaplain, following the retirement of the Revd Canon Dr Colleen O’Reilly.

Father Luke Hopkins Trinity College ChaplainFather Luke Hopkins grew up in the Hunter Valley, NSW, and was ordained in the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle in 2011. Luke began his ordained ministry assisting one of the archdeacons of Newcastle in a church plant in the city, and also assisted at Newcastle's Christ Church Cathedral.

Luke went on to become the assistant curate in the parish of Taree and chaplain to Manning Valley Anglican College. He then pursued postgraduate studies with Trinity College Theological School.

After some time in Oxford at Ripon College Cuddesdon and Merton College, Luke was a resident at Trinity for a few years before becoming the vicar at St Martin's Hawksburn. He has completed a doctorate on Anglican ecclesiology and Patristics entitled Cyprian of Carthage and the Australian Anglican Episcopate. He is married to Alice Christofi and has a great love of helping others to grow in Christ.

Luke will officially commence in the Chaplain role on 7 February 2022 and we very much look forward to having him join us at Trinity College.
