Meet Wellbeing Coordinator Annie Rose Collis

Annie Rose joined our team in 2022 and here she shares her favourite TV show, what she thinks would make the world a better place, and advice to her 18-year-old self.

Annie Rose Collis headshotWhat are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I’m so keen to meet everyone and really get to know some of the students. I’m excited to learn about their lives and help support them on their journey when I can, and hopefully add to the culture at Trinity that everyone speaks so highly of!

What’s your favourite TV show?

Friends – I’ll watch it again and again and again – mostly because it’s cute and funny. Some of it doesn’t date super well, but I think the characters represent different parts of yourself, and it’s funny to notice who really grinds your gears. I think everyone has a little bit of the five characters in them, so if you hate Ross (like I do) ask yourself why…

What do you wish you could go back and tell your 18-year-old self?

Relax. Plans never really work out the way you think they will, so stop trying to force your life in one direction. Be open to what you’re learning and feeling, and see where that leads you.

Has there been a pivotal moment in your life?

My primary school basketball team won a game, and we went to McDonald’s to celebrate. I was sitting there eating a hashbrown in my own little world of fried potatoey goodness, and then someone came in who looked upset. An adult nearby said something like ‘I wonder what she’s thinking about’ – and it just clicked that everyone has a secret life in their head, and you can only get a window into it when they emote or tell you what’s going on in their inner world. Ever since then I’ve been curious about other people and what they’re thinking and feeling.

What would make the world a better place?

Empathy – I think if people could really try to feel what other people might be feeling at times, the world would be kinder. Also, composting.
