Georgia O'Connor at Trinity College

Name

Dr Georgia O’Connor

Role

Admissions Coordinator

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a medical doctor, but I quickly realised I had zero natural ability when it comes to science.

What was your favourite subject at school and why?

My favourite subject was history. Trying to understand the different events and forces that have shaped our world has always fascinated me.

Has there been a pivotal moment in your life?

In 2014 I was awarded a scholarship to study a Master of Global and Imperial History at the University of Oxford. The experience completely changed my life, socially and academically. I made lifelong friends and, after returning home to Melbourne, went on to complete a PhD in history. In fact, my positive experience of being part of a college at Oxford is partly what inspired me to apply for this role at Trinity.

What’s your favourite TV show and why?

During lockdown I rewatched the entire series of Frasier. Controversial, but I reckon it’s the funniest 90s sitcom, hands down J

What would make the world a better place?

More sharing, dancing, and people with a good sense of humour.
