Student Profiles

Students at Trinity join a diverse and welcoming community of people from many backgrounds and with varied experiences of church and faith.

Trinity's students and alumni have gone on to make significant contributions to the wider church. This includes undertaking parish ministry (both lay and ordained), leading church agencies, being appointed as lecturers in theological colleges or as archdeacons or deans, and being elected as bishops, archbishops and primates of the Anglican Church of Australia.

What our students say

The Revd Heidin Kunoo
Bachelor of Theology

"Trinity showed me a diversity of views and opened my eyes to possibilities I had never thought of. Other students who were also exploring ministry formation had experience of Roman Catholic theologies, which enabled me to compare these with my Anglican background. There was never just one theological direction at Trinity; rather, it was very open to various kinds. Although some students were older than I was, they were very supportive and encouraging and we formed strong bonds of friendship. It was a very welcoming community."

Christopher Lim
Master of Theological Studies

"I decided to enrol in the Master of Theology course so I could acquire a broad, theological foundation that will inform my personal and professional life. I chose to study at Trinity because of its ability to provide a high-quality education and access to a wide range of theological ideas and concepts. I truly appreciate the diversity of thought and discourse that is experienced in class and I have benefited from the comparisons and contrasts that occur between my own ideals and those of my fellow classmates."

Sammy Wilkinson
Bachelor of Theology

"I studied on campus and discovered there was a warm and engaging academic community which reignited my faith and genuinely nurtured my learning. Seeing the faith through an academic lens is encouraged at Trinity, and for me that allowed a fresh and exciting perspective on the whole of my religious life. I've appreciated the high standard of lectures as well as the very genuine personal support afforded to each student. The lecturers actually do care about our learning, which is cool!"

The Revd Suzannah Daniels
Master of Theological Studies

"I was delighted to find that the Trinity students came from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Not only do I now have really good friends from a variety of Christian denominations, but this diversity contributed wide-ranging viewpoints that added to the richness of class discussions. I also enjoyed the range of subject choices and having access to the whole of the University of Divinity. Although my specific focus was on Anglican theologies, I valued also being able to choose subjects from the associated colleges of other denominations and appreciated Trinity's openness to allowing students to explore and connect with different approaches and styles of worship."

The Revd Kathryn Watt
Master of Theological Studies

"I was relieved to find that I was not the oldest applicant, nor was I the only 'new' Anglican going through the selection process. So that I could smooth my transition from one career to the next, I started by studying a single subject online, but then organised my life so I could attend class. I benefitted enormously from being at Trinity. The ministry formation program was extremely thought provoking and gave us great exposure to the many different forms of ministry. This enabled us to see what our own path should be. The Trinity faculty are highly respected leaders who take a very personal interest in each student. They are extremely knowledgable and open to sharing their experiences, It was a privilege to be taught by them."
