Trinity College grounds on a beautiful sunny day

Community Planting Day

Almost 100 members of the college, as well as volunteers from the Royal Park Protection Group and Friends of Royal Park, worked together to plant dozens of saplings grown from seeds collected from native indigenous species found around the park perimeter. Through this experience, the students learnt proper planting techniques, as well as appreciation for and active engagement in the process of habitat conservation. The event concluded with the sharing of pizzas and fruit between new friends back at the college.

Jane Sykes, subject leader of Environment, Development and Design in the Pathways School, and 2018 sustainability interns, Tom Grills and Bethanie Chong, would like to extend their gratitude to all participants for a fun and productive morning. Special thanks also go to the Royal Park officer, Chris Nicholson, and volunteers of the Royal Park Protection Group and Friends of Royal Park who kindly facilitated the planting.
