Meet RC admissions manager Chris Greaves

By Chris Greaves

Our Residential College admissions and student recruitment manager Chris Greaves shares his life philosophy and love of Eurovision.

What do you enjoy most about working at Trinity College?

Being part of the most vibrant and diverse community of wonderful people.

How would you describe the residential community at Trinity?

Accepting, high-achieving, inspirational.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Aged 5: A hairdresser

Aged 10: A pilot

Aged 15: A children’s TV presenter

Has there been a pivotal moment in your life?

At the age of 21, I underwent (painful) corrective jaw surgery, which transformed the way I looked. Apart from losing 20kg and becoming more self-confident, it fixed my lisp, crooked smile and Buzz Lightyear lower jaw. The downside was that I realised how fickle and superficial people really are!

What’s an interesting story from your life or travels you’d like to share?

I’ve attended six Eurovision song contests (in person) and very much look forward to the next one – though it won’t be in 2021! My favourite, you ask? Kiev, 2017. My favourite Australian entry? Dami Im, of course.

If you could go on a return trip to any point in time in the past or future, where would you go?

Bern, May 1905. I’d jump on the tram with Albert Einstein when he discovered that time is relative to the observer.

What is your life philosophy?

Judge not. Fear not. Worry what people think not.
