Multi-purpose court opens

On Monday Campbell Bairstow, Provost of Trinity College, officially opened the College’s new multi-purpose court.

With construction of the new Gateway building underway, the court was recently moved to the northern end of the main campus.

In a very low-key opening, Campbell Bairstow (pictured) said a few words before unlocking the gate and practicing his tennis swing.

This court is individually line-marked to accommodate tennis, basketball, netball and futsol (indoor soccer). It was given a thumbs-up by several residential students, on hand to give the court a run.

The court is made of an asphalt base with two coats of plexipave acrylic in Australian Open Blue (colour); and was constructed by WM Loud, who are the preferred contractor for Rod Laver Arena, home of the Australian Open.

The court is now open for casual use, and an online booking system will be available shortly.
