Trinity mourns passing of Malcolm Fraser

The College community is saddened to hear of the passing today of former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, who has died at the age 84, after a brief illness.

Trinity has a long connection with the Fraser family.

Malcolm’s father, John (TC 1910) and uncle, Simon (TC 1906) both attended Trinity.

After Simon's death from influenza in 1919, their father (Malcolm's grandfather), Sir Simon Fraser, endowed a scholarship in Engineering at Trinity. It is still awarded at the College today.

One of Malcolm and Tammie’s four children, and three of their grandchildren, have also been part of the College community.

Last year, in September, Malcolm was invited to give an Oak talk, at which he spoke about his book Dangerous Allies.

Our thoughts are with the family and those close to Malcolm at this time.
