Past PM Kevin Rudd offers food for thought in the College Hall

The Hon Kevin Rudd visited the College on Tuesday 10 November to deliver the 2015 Dr Rowan Williams Lecture, in a series run by Colleges & Universities of the Anglican Communion (CUAC).

A diverse audience of students, staff, CUAC board members and the public attended the event held in the College Dining Hall.

The topic of his lecture was ‘Faith, Ethics and Climate Change’, in anticipation of the 2015 UN conference on climate change commencing in Paris on 30 November.

Over the course of an hour, Mr Rudd reflected on his ethical position on climate change and the scope for religious perspectives to contribute to debate and policy.

In his address, Mr Rudd said that ‘political leaders face the unique challenge of acting in the interests not just of this generation but also the next, raising in turn profound ethical questions of intergenerational justice’.

At the conclusion of the lecture, audience members were given the opportunity to ask questions.
