In September, two groups of Trinity College students set off on adventures to rural Australia to experience life in the outback and interact with different communities.
A group of Residential College students and staff left on Saturday 17 September to take part in the annual Northern Territory trip to the remote Indigenous community of Minyerri.
The group stayed at the local school on a week-long, awareness-raising visit – they assisted with classes, helped out at sporting events and activities, and spent time getting to know the people in the local community.
Students were given unforgettable new insights into Indigenous culture and experienced first-hand, some of the challenges facing other Australians.
Additionally, at the end of September, a group of 45 excited Foundation Studies students spent 10 days travelling through Central Australia to gain a deeper understanding of Australia, our Indigenous people and life in the outback.
They travelled to Adelaide, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon, Alice Springs, the MacDonnell Ranges and Burra. And to enrich their cultural experience, the students stayed underground in bunkhouse accommodation, visited an underground home and church, and learnt about opal mining and polishing.
