Indigenous Higher Education Conference

This conference has been established in collaboration with The University of Melbourne as a forum for educators, researchers, policymakers, students and the community to share information and knowledge on how best to support and improve educational outcomes for Indigenous higher education students.

The theme for this year’s conference is building a community of Indigenous higher education practice.

The Conference Chair is Professor Shaun Ewen, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) & Foundation Director of the Melbourne Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at The University of Melbourne. The Conference Ambassador is Professor Marcia Langton, Trinity College Fellow and Associate Provost & Foundation Chair of Australian Indigenous Studies at The University of Melbourne.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Associate Professor Linc Kesler, Director of First Nations and Professor of Indigenous Studies and English, the University of British Columbia
  • Professor Jacinta Elston, Pro Vice Chancellor (Indigenous), Monash University
  • Mr Niklas Labba, Academic Director of Sámi Research Centre, UiT/ The Arctic University of Norway
  • Dr Nikki Moodie, Lecturer and Researcher in Indigenous Education Policy, the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne 

Other speakers will include academics, educators and policymakers from around Australia and overseas.
