From the Director
I am delighted to invite you to join the Young Leaders Summer School at Trinity College. Summer School offers a rewarding experience to an impressive and diverse group of students. It is an opportunity to broaden your outlook on learning and study, practise leadership skills, consider your future direction, and – no less important – have plenty of fun.
You may wish to build solid foundations for your final years of schooling, or gain a taste of life at a world-leading university. You may wish to experience the independence that comes from living away from home, or meet other smart, motivated young people. The Young Leaders Summer School is designed to help you realise these aims.
Students have often told me how much perspective they have gained from being able to step back from the rigours of their school routine during Summer School. Our programs are specially designed so that you can approach learning from a critical and contextual perspective, with an eye to what your learning means in the context of the world we live in, with an eye to the interconnectedness of knowledge and human endeavour.
You will experience a range of activities in and out of the classroom, led by experienced, passionate teachers. You will be guided by caring student mentors – talented university students that are integral to the residential experience that Summer School offers. At the same time, you will make friends from around the world, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Melbourne.
Our tradition of learning emphasises critical and independent thought, developing your own opinions and solutions, and communicating these ideas clearly and effectively. The Young Leaders Summer School is a unique expression of this tradition, and I encourage you to be a part of it.
