Establishing a scholarship
Setting up a scholarship in perpetuity
Setting up a scholarship in perpetuity
allows the scholarship to continue into the future, while retaining its real value and power to help undergraduates.
A
full Scholarship
A full scholarship, established as an Endowment in Perpetuity in the Trinity College Foundation, requires a corpus sum of $425,000. This is made up of the annual sum for a Scholarship (currently $17,000) multiplied by 25. A 4% disbursement from the endowment each year would fund the Scholarship in perpetuity without losing value.
Opportunities exist fo donors who wish to fund one scholarship in its entirety to name a scholarship.
A half-Scholarship
A half-scholarship ($8,500 per
annum) requires a corpus sum of $215,000.
A
quarter-Scholarship
A quarter-scholarship ($4,500 per
annum) requires a corpus sum of $105,500.

Senior scholarships for undergraduates
Trinity would like to endow full scholarships for outstanding undergraduates in their 4th or later years at university. This would give older students access to the College experience, and attract the finest later-year students, perhaps to do their honours year, from overseas as well as from Australia, to Trinity and the University of Melbourne. Just as the Rhodes Scholarships are acclaimed - such scholarships would signal that these are students of the highest calibre in study, leadership, service, and individual character.
