Establishing a scholarship
Setting up a scholarship in perpetuity
Setting up a scholarship in perpetuity
allows the scholarship to continue into the future, while retaining its real value and power to help undergraduates.
A
full Scholarship
A full scholarship, established as an Endowment in Perpetuity in the Trinity College Foundation, requires a corpus sum of $500,000. This amount may be donated to the College through a pledge over a period of up to five years. A 4% disbursement from the endowment each year would fund the Scholarship in perpetuity without losing value relative to fees.
Opportunities exist for donors who wish to fund one scholarship in its entirety to name a scholarship.
A half-Scholarship
A half-scholarship requires a corpus sum of $250,000.
A
quarter-Scholarship
A quarter-scholarship requires a corpus sum of $125,000.
Areas of need at Trinity
Under the Melbourne Model, which takes full effect in 2011, there will be a need to establish or enhance existing scholarship funds in the following six undergraduate areas:
| Arts | Biomedicine | Commerce |
| Environments | Music | Science |
There are also continuing opportunities for endowing scholarships in the graduate and post-graduate fields, especially in medicine and law. This would give older students access to the College experience, and attract the finest graduates and post-graduates from overseas as well as from Australia, to Trinity and the University of Melbourne. Just as the Rhodes Scholarships are acclaimed - such scholarships would signal that these are students of the highest calibre in study, leadership, service, and individual character.
Our Advancement Office will be happy to assist you in making a gift to Trinity College.
