Key Campaign Objectives
The first stages of the Campaign for Trinity have focused on raising funds to develop residential accommodation, endow scholarships and maintain heritage buildings within the College.
However, the overall objectives of the Campaign for Trinity are wider than this, enabling donors to direct their support toward a
specific purpose that matches their personal interests with the needs and
priorities of the College.
Such purposes include buildings, scholarships,
music, teaching, theology and general endowment.
Buildings
In 2000, the College engaged the distinguished architect Professor Peter Elliott to work with us to create an architectural master plan. This rigorous examination of the College's space needs, many of which are acute, proposed solutions that can be implemented in a logical, economical sequence.
Building Projects included in the architectural master plan include:
- improving student and tutor residential accommodation - the Woodheap Building
- developing an Information Technology and Learning Centre
- upgrading facilities for music and drama
- developing an auditorium and performing arts complex
- providing first-class facilities and staff support for the Theological School
- consolidating Trinity College Foundation Studies in quality facilities near the University
Scholarships
To ensure that we can offer a Trinity education to the most talented students regardless of their means, our long-term goal is to achieve the same level of scholarship support as that of the best-endowed US colleges and universities.
Scholarships enhance the diversity of our student body, a diversity which enriches all our students, and is essential for the intellectual and cultural strength of the College community.
Thanks to the generosity of the Trinity community, the number of
endowed scholarships is growing.
See related links for further information about Scholarships.
Music
Music Funds established by the Foundation support Choral music within the College, there are currently 10 Choral Scholarships, an Organ Scholarship and several general music scholarships. The Foundation also administers the Organ Fund, the Organ Maintenance Fund and the Choir Tour Fund.
You can direct your gift to support music at Trinity, including the Choir of Trinity College - one of the finest collegiate choirs in the world.
Teaching
Endowed teaching positions enable the College to bring the finest minds from around the world onto Trinity’s campus.
Through the Visiting Scholars Program, eminent professors and lecturers engage with students on campus and within the University of Melbourne, as well as with wider academic and professional communities.
Theology
Trinity has a proud heritage of shaping men and women in mission and ministry within the Anglican tradition. The Trinity College Theological School derives its income from three sources: student fees, gifts from parishes and individuals, and income from endowment for scholarships and lectureships.
General Endowment
A significant endowment fund will help ensure long-term financial security, independence and flexibility for the College.
General, or unrestricted, endowment enables the College to:
- apply resources to areas of greatest need
- seize new and/or emerging opportunities, particularly those which define a truly world–class educational institution.
