Dr Katherine Firth teaches at the University of Melbourne in the areas of graduate research and communication. She is a Visiting Research Fellow of Trinity College. She trained at Newnham College, Cambridge, and Oxford Brookes University. Katherine publishes in the area of modernist literature, poetry and music. Recent publications include a new scholarly translation in Johann Sebastian Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245): A Theological Commentary by Andreas Loewe, published by Brill in 2014, as well as articles on 20th-century poetry and music. Katherine is an active librettist, with three works that were premiered by Trinity College Choir. She is an Examining Chaplain for the Diocese of Melbourne and a member of the Acorn Press board.
