Trinity and the Victorian bushfires
Friday 20 February 2009
The devastation of the Victorian fires has sobered and saddened all of us. While all our students are safe, we know that many in the Trinity community have been directly affected by this tragedy. As the death toll climbs past 200 and the costs to property and livelihoods spiral into the hundreds of millions, we feel deeply for those who have lost loved ones, property and livestock, and the irreplaceable mementos of life. We feel also for the firefighters, the emergency workers and chaplains who have seen and experienced such horror and pain first-hand. Life in Australia will never be quite the same.
The College will also set aside up to $10,000 to contribute to the relief of those impacted by the bushfires.
Another way in which Trinity is able to contribute directly to the community response is through the Choir, which has been invited to perform the opening item at the ABC's Free Community Concert in the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Sunday 1 March, 2-5pm.
If, as a result of the bushfires, you need any support, please contact one of our Chaplains and they will ensure you have someone to talk to.
