Monday 5 May 2008
Mr Ken Knott
Mr Ken Knott was today welcomed to Trinity, where he takes up the important new role of Director of Information Services, responsible for all Library and Information Technology (IT) functions throughout the College. He is a member of the Senior Management Team and reports directly to the Warden.
Ken has over 25 years’ experience in IT across a range of industries. Most recently he was the Manager, Systems Infrastructure, in the Information Services Division at the University of Melbourne, where his team was responsible for managing over 400 servers and storage units across multiple locations, and also had key involvement in a number of the large, centralised applications and system deployments at the University.
His previous roles have included managing the IT Operations at Transurban CityLink for both the tolling and traffic control systems and, following that, selection and consolidation of state-wide health applications on large centralised systems for the Department of Human Services. He also has professional experience in commercial and local government sectors, and worked for over a year in Chicago.
Ken’s focus is on ‘ensuring that technology and information are key enablers in achieving an organisation’s goals and directions’. He has a Bachelor of Business from Queensland University of Technology and has partially completed a Master of Information Systems.
The Warden, Associate Professor Andrew McGowan, said ‘The College is extremely fortunate to have someone with Ken’s experience and expertise leading this new Information Services area, where traditional and emerging ways of supporting students and staff are being combined. His existing knowledge of the University and his wide experience in public and private sectors are great assets for Trinity.’
