Brenda Holt appointed Chief of Staff & Executive Officer

The Warden, Associate Professor Andrew McGowan, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Brenda Holt as Chief of Staff and Executive Officer effective from Monday, 4 February 2008.
Brenda has 18 years of professional experience in education, 13 of these in the tertiary sector. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Baylor University, Waco, Texas; a Diploma of Education from Monash University; and a Master of Arts in Theology (Pastoral Counselling) from Fuller Theological Seminary, Los Angeles.
Her most recent senior leadership position was as Warden of Whitley College from 2001–2005. Since January 2006, she has focussed on completing a PhD in the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne, with her thesis exploring the transformative impact of urban-based university education on young rural women and its implications for equity and access programs in the Australian tertiary sector.
Concurrently, Brenda worked in strategic roles with the University’s School of Graduate Studies and the Melbourne Model Implementation Team. She is currently a Research Fellow in the Faculty of Education.
In her new role, Brenda will be working with the Warden and the Senior Management Team, and will be responsible for managing the affairs of the Warden’s Office, Board-related matters and Professional Development for Trinity staff. Janine Hawker, who recently commenced as the College’s Human Resources Officer, will report directly to the Chief of Staff.
In announcing this appointment, Professor McGowan said, ‘Brenda Holt brings many gifts to Trinity. She has great experience in education and has exercised leadership in a collegiate setting. I am very pleased that someone of her calibre and commitment is joining us.’
