Mr Ron Bell,
BA(Hons), DipEd Melb
Lecturer in Charge
Ron
Bell has taught Media and Communications at Trinity since 1998. He
started his teaching career at Methodist Ladies' College, Kew, where he
taught senior Politics, History and English. He has published two
textbooks on politics in Australia, the USA and Russia (Oxford
University Press) and two anthologies of Australian literature (OUP and
Addison Wesley Longman). He has worked as a newspaper journalist,
editor and writer of comedy cabaret shows. Ron also teaches
Professional Writing 101 and Understanding Australian Media at the
University of Melbourne.
Mr David Neo, MA(Film Studies) Concordia, BA(Communication Studies) Calgary
Ms Rose De la
cruz, BA Monash & Leeds, DipEd La Trobe, MA(Environmental Studies) Melb,

Rose studied an Arts degree at Monash and Leeds (UK) universities
majoring in International History and Politics and a postgraduate
diploma in Education specialising in ESL and Social Sciences. She
worked teaching English to refugees and migrants in Melbourne for five
years before being offered a position teaching in Mexico with the Anglo
Mexican Cultural Institute. She worked in Mexico for ten years teaching
with the Institute and later in technical schools and a university.
Returning to Melbourne in 1990, she taught at RMIT and at The Centre
for Women’s Education before joining the EAP team at Trinity in 1995.
Her work in TCFS was interrupted for two years when she returned with
her family to Mexico to work on the Australian Volunteers International
program. Rose’s volunteer work in environmental education provided the
basis for her Master’s thesis, completed in 2000. She became Lecturer
in Charge of Environment and Development in 2000. She also teaches some
classes in EAP and Media & Communication.
Mr Kent Middleton, BA Monash, MA La Trobe
Kent Middleton has extensive experience teaching Sociology, Politics, Media and Communication at a number of Australian universities. He currently teaches in the Department of Media and Communications at the University of Melbourne and Media and Politics in Australia at RMIT University. His present research interests include media representations of social conflict and the development of the public relations
state.
