Dr Tamar Lewit,

Dr
Tamar
Lewit, Lecturer in Charge of History of Ideas and Director of Special
Academic Projects, came to TCFS in 1991 after studying for her
doctorate at the University of London and teaching in History at the
University of Melbourne. She has recently published an
updated edition of her book Villas, Farms
and the Late Roman Rural Economy (third to fifth centuries AD) (Oxford
1991/2004), which has been cited in over 30 scholarly publications worldwide.
Her other publications include 'Educating in a global
village: The challenge of cultural diversity' B-HERT News Journal of the
Business/Education Round Table Nov 2003, and articles and book chapters on
cultural change, economy, and
rural settlement in Europe and the Mediterranean,
published in the USA, Belgium and Australia.
Mr Richard
Finch, BA(Hons), BCom Melb
Associate Lecturer in Charge
Richard has been with TCFS since
April 1997. Prior to Trinity he tutored
in the Philosophy Department at the University of Melbourne. His main
areas of academic interest are notions of objectivity in ethics
and the dialogues of Plato.
Dr Janusz Sysak,

Dr. Janusz Sysak has been with TCFS since 1994, after
having taught in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of
Melbourne and in the Context Curriculum at RMIT. His initial studies were in French and
Psychology at the University
of Queensland where
he obtained his BA and DipEd. He then
taught English in France,
where he also completed a Masters in Literature and the History of Ideas at the
Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. More recently, he obtained his PhD in the
Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University
of Melbourne. His PhD was entitled 'The Natural
Philosophy of Samuel Taylor Coleridge'. His current research interests lie in the general area of intellectual
history, particularly the history of science.
Dr Frazer Andrewes, BA, MA(Hons) Auck, PhD Melb
Frazer Andrewes has taught in the History of Ideas department since July 1999. From 1996 to 2003 Frazer was a PhD candidate in the Department of History,
University of Melbourne, graduating in 2004 with a doctoral thesis on
Australian cultural and intellectual history in the 1930s. He
previously tutored in history at the University of Auckland, New
Zealand, and at the University of Melbourne. In 2005 Frazer lectured
in early-modern European history and the history of fascism at the
Australian Catholic University. Frazer is a member of Asialink.
Dr Jonathan Barlow, BA(Hons) Sydney, MA Monash, PhD Sydney
Jonathan Barlow holds research degrees in Roman History and Hellenistic philosophy.
Mr John
Buttrose, DipTeaching(Primary) Torrens CAE, BA(Hons) La Trobe
John has been with TCFS since 2002.
Previously John was studying for a postgraduate degree at LaTrobe University,
looking at the history of whaling and Aboriginal people in colonial Australia,
and tutoring Modern European and Australian 20th century history.
Other research interests include the archaeology of whaling in Australia
and the archaeology of Bronze Age Cyprus.
Ms Clare
McKnight, BA(Hons) ANU, BTheol MCD, BEd Melb, GradDipRE, DipTheolStuds YTU
Clare
McKnight has been HOI July Fast Track Coordinator for five years. Before
Trinity, she tutored in Latin, Greek History, and 'Religion and
Society' at the Council for Adult Education and in Roman History at the
University of Melbourne. She has taken various examining and assessment
roles for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and its
predecessors, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board and the
Victorian Board of Studies and has taught in secondary schools. In 2006, she has completed a Coursework Master’s Degree in Theology.
