Lecturer in Charge
Rose studied an Arts degree at Monash and Leeds (UK) universities majoring in International History and Politics and a postgraduate diploma in Education specialising in ESL and Social Sciences. She worked teaching English to refugees and migrants in Melbourne for five years before being offered a position teaching in Mexico with the Anglo Mexican Cultural Institute. She worked in Mexico for ten years teaching with the Institute and later in technical schools and a university. Returning to Melbourne in 1990, she taught at RMIT and at The Centre for Women’s Education before joining the EAP team at Trinity in 1995. Her work in TCFS was interrupted for two years when she returned with her family to Mexico to work on the Australian Volunteers International program. Rose’s volunteer work in environmental education provided the basis for her Master’s thesis, completed in 2000. She became Lecturer in Charge of Environment and Development in 2000. She also teaches some classes in EAP and Media & Communication.
Ms Jane Sykes,
BA, DipEd, GradDipEd(Policy and Admin) Monash
Jane commenced teaching at Trinity in July 1999. She has a BA, majoring in Geography, a Diploma of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Policy and Administration, all of which she studied at Monash University. Prior to commencing at Trinity, Jane taught in Victorian secondary schools for ten years, teaching Geography and History and having a number of leadership roles, including Head of Geography and Chair of Curriculum Committee. Currently Jane also works at Monash University teaching in the Education Faculty as well as working with the Geography Teachers' Association of Victoria and the Global Education Project and as a VCE Geography Examination Assessor.
