The Chapel of Trinity College and Janet Clarke Hall
The
Chapel was completed in 1917 and is the focus for regular services of
Christian worship, including Evensong with the Choir of Trinity
College on Sundays and the College Eucharist on Monday nights, led by
the College Chaplains. It is also the home of the Canterbury Fellowship. A dedicated quiet room known as 'The Space' is also available at 715
Swanston St, Carlton, as part of the Trinity College Foundation Studies
complex.
Trinity College and Janet Clarke Hall are Anglican institutions, welcoming people of all faiths and none. A Christian vision of community informs our common life, and across the Colleges spiritual dimensions of being human are expressed and explored in a variety of religious and cultural traditions — a diversity we value. The Chapel is a place of worship, for testing ideas and beliefs, for nurturing faith and spirituality; it is a quiet place for reflection and prayer, and, above all, a sacred space where all are welcome.
Janet Clarke Hall and Trinity College welcome the use
of the Chapel for appropriate events, such as services of marriage,
baptisms, concerts, lectures and memorials. All enquires concerning the
Chapel should be directed in the first instance to the Administrator—Chaplaincy on 03 9348 7495.
'The Space'
'The Space', at 715 Swanston St, is a room set aside for students and staff who wish to take 'time out' to pray, or to pause for quiet reflection. Prayer mats, slippers and ablutions requirements are provided, as is a book, 'Let us Pray', in which all are encouraged to record their prayers. The room is quiet and comfortable, and the perfect place to come aside and rest a while. Faith groups and Chill Out groups are some who meet regularly in 'The Space', and others may also, by arrangement with the Foundation Studies Chaplain.
