Trinity in Asia
In July 2007 as part of the Choir of Trinity College tour of Southeast Asia, college leaders hosted several alumni functions for a mix of alumni from the residential college, foundation studies, and summer school programs. At receptions in both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, the Warden, Dr Andrew McGowan and the Dean of International Programs, Dr Barbara Cargill, spoke with alumni about Trinity’s aim to strengthen our overseas alumni networks and the possibility of establishing alumni associations in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. These gatherings were a great success, and Trinity staff members present were delighted to meet so many graduates and discover the diverse and exciting paths some of our alumni take after leaving Australian shores.
The College also hosted evening events in Kuala Lumpur at the Novotel Hotel, and in Singapore at the Earshot Restaurant on the Esplanade for parents of both past and present students. Both events provided an excellent opportunity to welcome and include parents in the Trinity community in some way, and the choir’s performance at or immediately following both events also gave families some very enjoyable entertainment.
