Accelerated and Extended Programs
Trinity College offers both Accelerated and Extended programs to meet individual student needs.
Extended Programs
- Extended programs at Trinity College Foundation Studies are designed for students who may need to cover additional curriculum in fundamental subjects such as English and Mathematics before they join a main intake.
- The necessity to undertake an Extended program will be advised in the Letter of Offer.
- Students who are made an offer for an Extended program should note that upon completion of the Extended component, entry to the Main program is automatic (re-application or additional testing is not necessary).
- As these programs do not have a remedial focus, Extended programs are not available to students who do not meet Trinity College Foundation Studies entry requirements.
- Students who need to improve their English substantially can enrol in an English course at an approved ELICOS institute, and then enter the Trinity College Extended program.
- A special Early Entry program beginning in August provides certain appropriately qualified students with the opportunity to enter Trinity College earlier. Students in this program must demonstrate satisfactory progress before proceeding to the Foundation Studies Main program.
Accelerated and Fast Track Programs
- An Accelerated program is offered for students who have demonstrated considerable ability above the normal entry requirements and who, for various reasons, could not join the Main program. The Accelerated program begins in April and joins the February Main program in the second term.
- Trinity offers two Fast Track programs: the first commences in July and finishes in January, and the second commences in October and finishes in June. These programs are for selected
students who have demonstrated skills that are higher than the normal entry requirements.
