Dr Mike Heald, BA(Hons), DipEd, PhD UWA, CertTEFL MillnerWA
Subject Leader
Mike has been teaching Literature in TCFS since 1999. He previously taught Literature, Cultural Studies and Creative
Writing at the University of Western Australia, and at Edith Cowan University in Perth. Mike’s research was conducted at the University of Western Australia, in the field of contemporary poetics. This resulted in a PhD thesis concerning five contemporary Western Australian poets. As well as his academic work, Mike has published three collections of poetry: Occasions in Shorelines. Three Poets (Fremantle Arts
Centre Press, 1995), Body-flame (FACP, 1999), and Focusing Saturn
(FACP 2004).
Mr Glen Jennings, BA(Hons), MA La Trobe
Glen Jennings joined Trinity College Foundation Studies in 1995, after serving as Deputy Head of Chisholm College at La Trobe University from 1984 to 1989. He has taught at universities in Australia and China, and represented the Asia Pacific Education Centre of Monash University at their Summer School in Nanjing, a city he first lived in as an International Scholar under the auspices of the Victorian Ministry of Education’s International Teaching Fellowship Exchange. Glen’s main areas of research include modern Chinese literature, history and politics, and English literature. He became Lecturer-In-Charge of Literature at TCFS in 2000, Director of Academic Advice in 2003, and Associate Dean (Academic Operations) in 2008.

Ms Neralie Hoadley, BA(Hons), GradDipEd,
MA Melb
Neralie Hoadley has been teaching in TCFS since early 1995. During her
time at Trinity, she has worked on extended programs, support classes, July,
February and Fast Track programs, teaching both English for Academic
Purposes and Literature. She came to Trinity with a background of teaching
adult migrant and overseas students at RMIT, Victoria University and the
Council of Adult Education. Her academic qualifications were gained at the
University of Melbourne, where she studied History and Philosophy
initially, followed by Education and Applied Linguistics. She has
recently completed an Asialink Leadership course.
Dr Rebecca Lucas, BA(Hons), PhD Monash (On maternity leave)
Rebecca Lucas has been teaching literature with TCFS since 2004.
Previously she lectured at Monash University for the Enhancement Studies
in Literature Program. Her doctoral thesis in ecophilosophy was completed
through the Centre for Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies, Monash
University. Her research interests include ecophilosophy, romanticism and
phenomenology. She is a committee member of ASLE-ANZ (Association for the
Study of Literature and the Environment - Australia/New Zealand division).
Ms Samantha Semmens, BA(Hons), MA Melb
Samantha has been teaching Literature in Trinity College Foundation Studies since 1997. She completed
both a Combined Honours degree in Philosophy and Social Theory and a Masters
degree in Literature at Melbourne University,
and has taught philosophy and literature at Melbourne, Monash and Deakin
universities. Samantha has a particular interest in psychoanalysis and
literature, and in literature and the visual arts, and is currently completing
a BFA degree in Sculpture at the Victorian
College of the Arts.
Dr Alexandra Williams BA Otago NZ; DipTch Christchurch NZ; DipTESL Wellington NZ; LTCL London; BMus(Hons) Melb; PhD Melb.
Alexandra Williams began teaching at Trinity College in 2004. A qualified teacher, she has also studied English, Linguistics, History and Music at various tertiary institutions in Australia and New Zealand. With the help of several Australian and European awards and scholarships for Music Performance and Musicology, she has also studied and conducted research in Austria, Italy and England. Besides teaching at the Music Faculty of the University of Melbourne, Alexandra has also taught English and History in secondary schools in New Zealand and the Cook Islands. Alexandra has had several articles published and has given conference papers in Australia and New Zealand on various aspects of music history and musical education. Her work at Trinity has included teaching Music History and Literature in many different intakes and in support classes.
