Kerry started with TCFS in 1997 and was employed to develop and teach a course in Biology. Biology was introduced to Foundation Studies in 1998. Kerry completed a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at Melbourne University in 1991. She spent several years working in research including a short period at Oxford University (Biochemistry), later at Monash University (Biochemistry) and the Victorian College of Pharmacy. Kerry has maintained a limited involvement in research, specifically protein structure and drug design. Each of the above research positions involved a significant component of undergraduate teaching. This involved both lecturing and tutoring in fields including Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Chemistry.
Ms Madeline
Papandreou, BSc(BioTech & Cell Biology) La Trobe, DipEd(Secondary) CSU
Madeline
Papandreou came to Trinity College as a new graduand in the year 2000
with a degree in science from La Trobe
University. She has been teaching Biology at in Foundation Studies since then and during this time she has also become Laboratory
Supervisor for Biology. Madeline continued with her studies and
obtained her DipEd(Secondary) from Charles Sturt University in 2005.
Dr Catherine
Symington, BAgrSc(Hons) Melb, PhD La Trobe
Cathy Symington has taught
biology at TCFS since 1998. She also runs the TCFS singing group. Previous to her work with Trinity, she taught
at La Trobe University across a range of subjects in the Zoology Faculty whilst
completing her doctorate. Her area of
interest for her thesis was reduction of pesticide use, focusing on sub-lethal
effects of pesticides on different pest and beneficial insect species in potato
crops. Other activities include
supervision and production of professional training and development programs,
technical illustration, and semi-professional singing.
