Congratulations, Kat!

Student of the Year and prize winners announced at Valedictory Dinner.

Residential College students, tutors and staff gathered in the Dining Hall to celebrate the successes of 2013 and bid departing students farewell.

The Warden of Trinity College, Professor Andrew McGowan and Dean of the College, Mr Campbell Bairstow, recognised a number of students for their valuable contributions across various facets of the Trinity community.

Katherine Droppert (3rd year Arts) was named 2013 Student of the Year for her contribution to the Arts at Trinity through her work on the TCAC, leadership in promoting student mental health within the College and participation in the Candystripes, the Trinity play and College sports.

‘Katherine has been very engaged in a remarkable range of activities, and has been incredibly effective in them all; she has a true passion for seeing that justice is done and has a talent for recognising and supporting those around her,’ Campbell commented in his address.

Simone Nathan (3rd year Arts) was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the Arts in 2013 as the Trinity Musical producer of Cosi.

Jacqui Brookes (1st year Commerce) and Ben Clark (3rd year Commerce) were named Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year.

Matthew Geleta (2nd year Science) was awarded the Rohan Humberstone Cup as the student who contributed most both academically and in the sporting arena throughout the year.

Emma Clark (2nd year Arts), Senhao Huang (2nd year Environments) and Emily Lewis (2nd year Arts) received Outstanding Achievement in Community Service awards for their work on the Outreach Committee amongst other efforts.

Tom Clark (3rd year Arts), Tom Szoka (2nd year Commerce), Phillip Hall (3rd year Science) and Aley Weisenberger (3rd year Science) were also recognised with awards for their outstanding contributions to the College in 2013.

Winning the 2013 Intercollegiate Cultural Cup and performing strongly in sporting and other arenas, the evening was a wonderful culmination to a busy, enjoyable and successful year for Trinitarians.
