Choir sings in historic settings of Germany

The Choir of Trinity College, under the direction of Michael Leighton Jones, has completed the first week of its tour of Germany, the Baltic States and Russia.

Enthusiastically received by audiences and congregations, they led the worship in the historic Thomaskirche and Nikolaikirche in Leipzig, and Frauenkirche in Dresden, and have given concerts in St Jakobskirche, Weimar, and at the Schlosskirche in Wittenberg.

Trinity College Chaplain, the Revd Dr Andreas Loewe, led liturgies assisted by Foundation Studies Chaplain, the Revd Chris Carolane, in a number of churches, Andreas preaching on two occasions and celebrating the Eucharist at Thomaskirche on the evening of 1 July.

A highlight for the choir was an impromptu performance of Mendelssohn's Erhaben, O Herr in the salon of Mendelssohn's house in Leipzig.

Yesterday the Choir flew to the Baltic States for the next stage of their tour.
