Archbishop’s Dinner Raises Money for Faith In Our Future Appeal

The 2016 Archbishop’s Dinner held on Wednesday 31 August was a resounding success with over 200 people attending and over $170,000 raised for the Faith in Our Future Appeal.

Audience members were treated to inspiring speeches on the future of the Theological School from, the Archbishop Philip Freier, the Right Revd Lindsay Urwin, the Revd Canon Professor Dorothy Lee, Mr Jacob Legarda and the Warden of Trinity College, Professor Ken Hinchcliff.

Over $170,000 was raised in hand by the end of the night (including from award winning Alliance Catering who donated over $20,000), bringing the total to an extraordinary $320,000 over the past two years for the Faith in Our Future Appeal.

There was a wide variety of items sold at the silent auction on the night from a King James Bible to a 5% share in a racehorse purchased by the Revd Ian Morrison.

So far the money raised has gone toward the appointment of an additional staff member, Revd Dr Robyn Whitaker, who is contributing greatly to the future of Trinity College Theological Studies as the Bromby Lecturer in Biblical Studies and Online Coordinator.

The College has also been incredibly fortunate to announce the inaugural Joan Adams Scholarship, due in large part to a significant bequest to the College. The scholarship allows the Theological School to attract the best and brightest theological students from throughout Australia and enrich the theological life of the School.
